While their names may suggest that the 3C and 3X are variations of the original Honor 3, that is not the case. Both lack the water and dust-resistant housing of the original and are configured differently, both from the inside and from the outside.
While the Honor 3X is a phablet, the Honor 3C is more of a general purpose smartphone for the mainstream public. As such, the phone may appeal to many people. It's therefore prudent to look at what the phone's strengths and weaknesses are
What's different on the Honor 3C 4G versus the standard 3C
Before moving on to what's good or bad about the Honor 3C, it's important to know that there are several different versions of the phone. The original Honor 3C came in two different configurations, the H30-T00 and H30-U10. Besides these there's the upgraded Honor 3C 4G, which is supposed the replace the older Honor 3C.
The 3C 4G version of the Honor 3C is an updated version of the latter with the following changes:
- While the standard 3C version only supported 3G, the Honor 3C 4G version includes, as the name suggest, support for 4G LTE cellular networks. Specifically, the 4G flavor supported is TD-LTE. LTE networks can transmit data at much faster rates than 3G networks.
- The original Honor 3C came with a MediaTek processor with 4 ARM Cortex-A7 cores and an integrated Mali-400 gpu with two cores. The 3C 4G comes with a much faster processor from Huawei itself. The cpu includes 4 ARM cores based on the Cortex-A9 architecture, which is much faster than the Cortex-A7. The gpu is also upgraded and includes 4 cores.
- The standard Honor 3C came in two versions, the H30-T00 and H30-U10. The former comes with 1 gigabyte of memory and 4 gigabytes of internal storage. The latter includes two gigabytes of memory and 8 gigabytes of internal storage. The Honor 2C 4G model doubles the amount of internal storage. You can select between 1 gigabyte of memory and 8 gigabytes of internal storage and 2 gigabytes of memory and 16 gigabytes of internal storage.

Strengths of the Huawei Honor 3C 4G
Here's what's good about the Honor 3C 4G:
- The phone is packed with features. Some of the more notable features are the high-resolution 5-inch touchscreen and the option to install two sim cards. While the honor 4C came with a decent processor, the 3C 4G model includes a very fast processor that can handle any software app, even play highly demanding games with ease. Basically, almost everything in terms of hardware is included in the phone. If you're looking for a smartphone with as many features as possible, the Honor 3C 4G fits the bill.
- The 3C 4G is also a good selection if you need a phone that will last as long as possible. It depends on how you use your phone, but you may be able to get away with charging your Honor phone every other day. Most people should not have any problem with battery life for a day and they have a good chance of reaching two days of use with a full charge.
- The phone can also substitute for a digital camera. The front camera and especially the camera in the rear offer photos that most people will be satisfied with. They will not miss not having a digital camera with them as the photos are more than adequate for regular use.
- Despite its many features, the price of the Honor 3C 4G has been kept relatively low. The version with 1 gigabyte of memory and 8 gigabytes of storage sells for about $160. The version with double the amount of memory and storage goes for about $200. If you want as much as you get can get in a smartphone without paying a lot, the Huawei Honor 3C 4G is an excellent choice.

Weaknesses of the Huawei Honor 3C 4G
Here's what's bad about the Honor 3C 4G:
- The biggest drawback of the Honor 3C is that it doesn't support all four of the GSM frequency bands. For people in the United States, the absence of the 850 MHz band means that reception is less than optimal and in some places there is no signal which means that the phone cannot be used to make calls. Fortunately, most places around the world do not need the 850 MHz band and can use the Honor 3C without any problems.
- Besides voice, the Honor 3C also has limited support for 3G bands. Depending on where you live and what frequencies are used, getting high-speed data access using a 3G connection may not be possible. For even faster 4G LTE speeds, you need to have the Honor 3C 4G as the original Honor 3C doesn't support LTE. The restricted availability of frequencies makes the Honor 3C a not so good choice for people who travel around the world such as business people.
- Besides the limited network connectivity, the Honor 3C doesn't have any other major problems in my opinion. Some people may find that the phone is a bit thicker or chunkier than they would like. Note also that they battery is not user-replaceable. This may become a problem in future as replacing buying and replacing cellphone batteries on your own can save you a lot of money.

Comparisons of what's good or bad about the Huawei Honor 3C 4G
Basically, the Honor 3C 4G is an excellent general-purpose smartphone for most people in my opinion. The phone was designed to offer high performance at low cost and does just that. Anyone who wants as much value as possible for their money will be very satisfied with this phone.
The only exceptions are people who tend to move around. As you do, your phone may need to switch networks. Not all networks use the same cellular frequencies and it's therefore important that you have a phone that supports as many frequency bands as possible.
If it doesn't, the phone is not compatible and cannot be used. The limited support of the Honor 3C 4G for frequency bands make it not a good choice in this case. However, as long as you stay in areas that use frequency bands that the Honor 3C does support, you're good to go.
Since most people don't travel very far, the phone can be used by most people. It can handle pretty much anything someone would want to do with a smartphone and has almost no weaknesses. There are very few smartphones that can say the same.
